Any dog living on death row knows that if you can’t find a forever family in time, your number gets called. An intuitive German shepherd pup living at the Apple Valley Animal Shelter(AVAS), in California, knew that his time was up, and so he hatched a plan to break out of the shelter, with the hopes of reuniting with the owner who surrendered him.
The dog, whose name is Ginger, waited until night fell, broke out of her kennel and made her way onto the street where she began looking for her former owner. Shelter staff says the owner, who wished not to be identified, is a homeless man who could no longer afford to take care of Ginger.
Also, he did not want her to live out of his van because he wanted a better future for her. The full details of why he surrendered her to a kill shelter a sketchy, to say the least, and shelter staff have not divulged any information as to the reasoning.
After a few days on the streets, Ginger was ultimately found, and brought back to the shelter. Shelter staff at the AVAS, say that they are keeping Ginger in a much more secure kennel for her safety.
If you or someone you know is interested in giving Ginger the home she rightfully deserves, please contact the Animal Valley Animal Shelter at (760) 240-7000 and reference the shelter ID #160445.
Additionally, please share this story on Facebook or Twitter so we are closer to finding Ginger the forever family she rightfully deserves. We have done it before and we can certainly do it again.
