Elderly neighbor is fined $3K a day in violations – next door neighbors voluntarily fix her house

We must never forget that there are good people out there. Here is a story about how a Jersey couple, Adam and Kristin, changed their next-door neighbors life by remodeling her home. The couple had no obligations to help the neighbor, but did so out of the kindness in their hearts.

Anne Glancey’s property was described as a neighborhood eyesore: three-food-high grass, peeling paint, and an abandoned 1984 Plymouth parked in the front.

With the house looking run down, Glancey faced up to $3,000 per day in fines for code violations, but the owner had no way of making these payments. Glaney, a retired teacher, had no money, family or friends to help, but everything changed when she met Adam and Kristen.

To give some backstory, the couple moved next to Glaney 5 years ago. In their beginning encounters, they described Glaney as solitary and being highly private. “Until my wife and I moved in, no neighbors had a conversation with her,” Adam says. “She had no relations with anyone in the neighborhood.

As time passed, Glancey began talking to Adam and Kristen more often, eventually stopping by every day to chat. “We formed a friendship,” says Adam.

Then in June, Glancey showed the couple a letter she received from the town, the letter stated that the town would be cracking down on code violations under a new “Neighborhood Improvement Program.”

Upon reading the letter, Glancey didn’t know what to do, but Adam and Kristen sure did.

To help Glancey, the couple reached out to neighbors, friends and members of their church to help remodel the house. Over the span of several weekends, multiple neighbors showed up to help Glancey. The helpers landscaped, donated the car, scraped, primed and painted the house– a job the couple estimates would have cost $10,000 to $15,000 to complete.

With the help also came new friends for Glancey, the once isolated neighbor now felt less alone. The life changing event wasn’t the remodeled home, it was the new friends she made.

A beautiful story about a community coming together to make someone’s life better. It’s saddening knowing that this lady had no friends for the longest time, but i’m glad Adam and Kristen befriended her– a wonderful heart those two have.
