Help Find: 2 Dogs tortured and burned alive found at abandoned home

A disturbing discovery of two dogs appearing to have been tortured and burned alive were found  in the back of an abandoned home located near Church and Walnut Avenues in Southwest Fresno, California posted the Central California  Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals on their Facebook page Tuesday afternoon.

The grisly and heartbreaking remains of the dogs were found on Friday; authorities found a butane gas can most likely used in the animals’ torture. Photos from the scene showed one dog was tied up just feet from the other dog. According to AbcNews, Walter Salvari, spokesperson for the CCSPCA stated both dogs were alive when they were set on fire. Humane officers went to investigate after a  report of dead dogs came in. They found several butane tanks scattered across the empty field, and stated the butane had been used to set the dogs on fire tires along with pieces of wood were.

“It was a horrific scene to watch and of course, the pictures that came from investigators. It’s just something that really shouldn’t be happening in our community,” stated Salvari.

A neighbor in the area recognized one of the dogs, and both were thought to be strays and most likely tortured by transients.

“If they would do it to a dog, they would probably do it to a human,” stated  Salvari.

The SPCA is searching for leads and has offered a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call 559-233-7722.
