New York Port Authority police officers are being celebrated for saving the life of a dog struck by a truck on the famed George Washington Bridge. The bridge, which connects New York to New Jersey, spans the Hudson River, and is no place for pedestrians dog to say and write the least.
Both officers were out patrolling the bridge, when they came across the dog laying on the side of the road, wincing in pain. According to Port Authority spokesperson Joseph Pantegleo, the two officers administered first aid to the dog, and then placed him in their cruiser where they rushed him to Oradell Animal Hospital in Paramus, New Jersey.
At the hospital, the dog, whose name is Ronin, was treated for broken bones, and a minor fracture. Thankfully, he was reunited with his owner Desiree and is said to be doing well.
