Two dogs from the same background, need each other to become whole again. I would like to formally introduce you to Daisy and River.
Both pups were rescued during an animal cruelty investigation conducted by the Pennsylvania SPCA (PSPCA). Daisy is a 4-year-old border collie and River just turn 6 years old. He is a Jack Russell terrier. They both arrived at the Philadelphia shelter this past June looking for a fresh start.
You see, the only good thing about these two is that they have each other. Daisy is nearly blind, and River has a serious wound on her neck due to the abuse she had to endure from her past owner. Gillian Kocher from the PSPCA said,
“They are literally always at each other’s sides, and their size difference is no barrier. If you take them out and interact with them, you will see right away that they love each other — and people — very much.”
Daisy and River have each others back all the time. They are practically each others caregivers.
Daisy is said to be Rivers eye seeing dog as Kocher explains,
“Daisy acts as River’s eyes, often leading the way and guiding River ensuring that she isn’t in harm’s way.”
As for River, she is Daisy’s comfort. When Daisy isn’t feeling too well, River is known to curl up beside her and snuggle just to let her know that she is loved.
Now that they are fully recovered from an awful past, Daisy and River are looking for a forever family, where they can relive the rest of their golden years together. An absolute dream for them is to live in that home together and not apart.
Think you can help? If you or someone you know is interested in giving these two the forever family they rightfully deserve, please visit the Pennsylvania SPCA’s website here. Additionally, please share this story on Facebook, or Twitter so we are closer to finding these two the forever home they deserve. We have done it before and can certainly do it again.
