Speak UP! They Can't

6-Month-Old Shepherd Dumped at Kill Shelter For Dumbest Reason, Just Doesn’t Want To Face The World Anymore

Life at the San Bernardino Animal Shelter is no cake walk to say and write the least. The city funded shelter which is grappling with overcrowding routinely struggles to find the balance of dogs coming and leaving the shelter. The scales are uneven because more dogs are often placed in the facility, then they do leave. There is no hope at the SBAC as one 6-month-old German shepherd puppy can attest to. The dog, who was surrendered to the facility by a heartless owner all because she ‘fear bit’ him, now spends her time in a confined kennel space where she awaits a very glib future.

Shelter staff says that the dog, whose name is Princess, immediately shut down when she realized that she wasn’t going home for good. In fact, she is so sad, that she routinely tucks herself into a corner, hiding her face from plain view. Princess has simply given up. A Petharbor listing for Princess reads,

“I am a female, tan and black German Shepherd Dog mix. I have been at the shelter since Oct 14, 2016. I am available for adoption on Oct 25, 2016.”

At less than a year old, Princess is getting a very hard lesson to the start of her life, and we as a community can change it for the better. Princess, at her tender age, should be out playing with her dog toys, and lounging on a comfy bed with all the treats in the world to enjoy. Instead, she makes her new home on a cold concrete slab where she cries herself to sleep every night.

If you or someone you know is interested in giving this precious pup the forever home she rightfully deserves, please contact the SBAC at (909)-384-1304 and reference the shelter ID #A498742. Additionally, please share this story on Facebook or Twitter so we are closer to finding Princess a forever family. We have done it before and we can certainly do it again.
