A 44 year old Adams woman faces charges in an animal cruelty case.
State police charged Kerry Monica of County Route 76 with 12 counts of overdriving, torturing and injuring animals and failure to provide proper sustenance.
On Monday, police and Jefferson County Dog Control conducted an animal cruelty investigation at Monica’s home.
Inside, police said they found 12 dogs living in deplorable conditions, without access to food or water.
Police also said they found the remains of four dead dogs and one cat.
Dog control officials removed all living animals.
The dead animals were taken to North Country Animal Clinic to determine their cause of death.
Monica is due in Adams Town Court on November 2 to answer the charges.
Further charges are possible following the investigation into the deceased animals.
