(Dallas, Texas) Homeowner Guadalupe Gonzales got the surprise of a lifetime when her neighbor Fermin Rivera, trespassed onto her property, cornered her 5-week old bichon puppy, and began beating him for no apparent reason according to the Dallas News. Sadly, the entire thing was caught on camera.

In the video, Rivera is seen jumping the fence, and then attacking the small puppy who is seen barking, and desperately trying to get away from him. Rivera continues to give chase as Gonzalez, and another unidentified person who lives in the home watch in horror. According to the Dallas News, Rivera is seen assaulting the dog once he finally gets a hold of him, knocking him unconscious. He then goes into a shed on the property, retrieves a shovel, and try’s to bury the dog in a makeshift grave.

Police eventually arrived on the scene and immediately arrested an erratic and screaming Rivera, who was believed to be under the influence of narcotics at the time of his arrest. The dog, whose name is PJ was  brought to an emergency medical clinic where doctors worked hard to revive him. Unfortunately, he passed away the next day.

Riveria is being charged with felony animal cruelty and one count of criminal trespass. Authorities have also contacted ICE (Immigration Customs and Enforcement) because he is suspected to be in the United States illegally. He is presently being held without bail at a Dallas County jail.
