Friendly dog on death row after ailing owner surrendered her

A friendly eight-year-old dog is on death row after she was surrendered to a busy animal control agency in Manhattan, New York. The dog, named “Mia,” (A1091214) is already on the “to be destroyed” list after her ailing owner surrendered her to the New York Animal Care and Control Manhattan facility on September 25.

The following heartbreaking words have been written about Mia’s situation on the NYC Urgent Dogs website:

How heartbreaking it must be for Mia and for the owner who was forced to surrender her due to the owner’s poor health. Mia was clearly loved. She was even a bit too well fed, but she was spayed, taught basic commands, house trained and loved people of all ages. Her owner reported no issues whatsoever with this sweet, 24 pound 8 year old Shih tzu mix. By all accounts Mia was the perfect pet and now, through no fault of her own she is on the list to be killed

Mia had a normal life before her everything was turned upside down when her owner’s health declined – through no fault of her own, she is now in danger of being killed. Please help this surrendered dog find a rescue agency or adopter by taking a moment to share her adoption information.
