A dog by the name of Mr. Brown is facing a very critical life and death situation after he was surrendered to the high kill Harris County Public Health and Environmental Services on October 6, for the most trivial of all reasons. According to shelter staff, the pup was dumped at the shelter by a heartless owner because he simply jumped on his mother in law in excitement.
This is hardly a prosecutable offence, and so shelter staff are bewildered by the reasoning. In fact, according to a anonymous source at the shelter, she thinks that the story Mr. Brown’s owner gave was a fictional account used to give him an excuse to surrender the dog.
Last Sunday, a volunteer who runs a unofficial advocacy Facebook fan page for the shelter wrote,
“10/10 NO HOLDS!! Shelter staff worked to give this dog another few days! Yea! Please thank them!! Review date is now 10/12 at 5:30 p.m. for adoptions 5:50 p.m. for rescue groups to tag.”
Mr. Brown is said to be a sweet dog who is loving, kind, friendly and very well behaved. In his time at the shelter, he has exhibited no signs of ill behavior, and has shown staff nothing but respect. If you or someone you know is interested in giving this precious pup the forever home he rightfully deserves, please contact the Harris County Public Health and Environmental Services at the phone number (281) 999-3191 and reference the shelter ID number A469840. Additionally, please share this story on Facebook or Twitter so we are closer to finding Mr. Brown a home. We have done it before and can certainly do it again.
