At the Orange County Animal Services(OCAS) in Orlando, Florida, a mother dog was found cradling her newborn puppies, who were more than terrified struggling to make sense of the noises, smells, and share desperation of shelter life. OCAS shelter volunteer and advocate Chris Ferreira Reed took to her Facebook page and wrote:
“My Heart just broke into a million pieces… Look at the frightened mother holding on to her baby… Pure raw fear for their lives….This family needs rescue, foster pledges….. HELP!”
According to shelter staff, there has been some interest by fosters and patrons wishing to adopt, however as of today, no formal offers have been made. An Animal Services profile for the mother dog reads,
Hi, I am an approximately 6-year-old white and brown female. I tested heartworm negative. I weigh approximately 58 pounds. I have been at Orange County Animal Services since Sunday, October 16, 2016. My due out date is Thursday, October 20, 2016.
A shelter is no place for a mother dog and her children to be. If you or someone you know is interested in giving this family the forever family they rightfully deserve, please contact the OCAS at (407) 836-3111, and reference the shelter ID #A361526. Additionally, please share this story on Facebook or Twitter, so we are closer to finding this family the forever home they rightfully deserve. We have done it before and can certainly do it again.
