A man in North Wales committed an atrocious act of cruelty towards his dog. According to Thursday’s publication of the Metro U.K. in September 2015, 35-year-old Christopher Griffiths drugged his dog with cocaine and proceeded to use scissors and pliers to rip off the dog’s ears.
The tormented dog was a Staffordshire bull terrier named “Victor,” who was so drugged by the cocaine that he barely reacted when officers went to his home and made the gruesome discovery. The man accused of the cruel act attempted to place blame elsewhere – telling the authorities that he was assaulted himself and that the attackers had drugged his dog and then ripped off the dog’s ears with pliers.
RSPCA inspector Kia Thomas described the shock she felt after seeing the maimed dog, “When I first saw Victor I was just so shocked as his ears were gaping open wounds. I had never seen anything quite like it before,” reported News North Wales.
Despite Griffiths’ denial of committing the cruel act, he was found guilty and sentenced to jail time. District judge Gwyn Jones, who described the cruel act as a “deliberate and planned operation,” sentenced Griffiths to 24 weeks in jail and forbid him from owning dogs for the next 10 years.
Victor, along with two other dogs owned by Griffiths, was turned over to the care of the RSPCA after the cruel incident.
