The San Bernardino City Shelter (SBAS) in California is not a place a dog goes to dream of a better future. Just walking in there as a human and you immedietely get the sense of urgency, desperation, and sheer terror of the place. Dogs are confined to small, less than accommodating kennel space, where they await anxiously wondering what their fate will be. Most don’t have but a few precious days before a fateful decision is made to put them down, to free up kennel space.
One dog who got a crash course in the ways of the SBAS is a middle aged German shepherd by the name of Bobo. Bobo, who is 7 years old, was surrendered to the shelter on October 15, and by all accounts from shelter staff, he is confused and scared. According to an anonymous shelter staff member who spoke exclusively with Fido4ever, after just a few days in his kennel, Bobo stopped becoming hopeful, and now cries himself to sleep every night hoping someone might take a chance on him.
Facebook user Andrea Neyses who volunteers with the SBC wrote,
“Today Bobo was shivering in fear, nipped at adopter? He’s been through so much the past week! Bo Bo was surrendered by original owners, that kept tied outside , then adopted by adopter who did knows what? Hasn’t he been through enough? BoBo is neutered and on quarantine hold.”
Bobo, at his age, should be playing with his doggy toys, and lounging in a comfortable bed receiving all the love and attention he deserves. If you or someone you know is interested in giving this precious pup the forever home he rightfully deserves, please contact the San Bernardino Animal Shelter at (909) 384-1304 and reference the shelter ID #A388737.
