Life at the Miami-Dade Animal Services (MDAS) is about as stripped down as it gets. Just walking into the place, and it’s very easy to gauge the sense of hopelessness and desperation that dogs face each and every day, as they await their fates in less than comfortable living quarters. A 7-year-old Beagle can tell you all about it as she was just given a Friday evening deadline to find a home or be put down. Her owner, who was so neglectful in his care for her as she went on to contract heartworm, and fevers from a severe tick and flea infestation. What’s worse is all her ailments are very treatable medical conditions.

Doctors at the MDAS went to work and administered a life-saving blood transfusion, which worked to stabilize her and keep her alive for the moment. Now the MDAS is looking for someone to rescue this sweet pup before they have to do the unthinkable. The dog, whose name is Nena, gave 7 long years of her life showing her owner unconditional love. Instead of enjoying a life filled with toys, and strolls around the neighborhood dog park, she now makes a concrete slab as her only solace to stem the flow of tears and pain.

Christina Dickson, a volunteer with the shelter took to her Facebook page and wrote,

“She was this man’s dog covered with ticks – can’t even walk very sick. I made a point of telling him this didn’t happen overnight and to make sure this man gets at least a citation.”

If you or someone you know is interested in giving this precious pup the forever home she rightfully deserves, please contact the Miami-Dade Animal Services at  (305) 884-1101 and reference the shelter ID #A1216381. Additionally, please share this story on Facebook or Twitter so we are closer to finding this precious pup the forever home she rightfully deserves. We have done it before and can certainly do it again.
