Woman who pleaded guilty to setting sister’s house on fire that killed her pets sentenced

CASTLETON, N.Y. (NEWS10) – A Castleton woman was sentenced on Friday for committing arson and animal cruelty.

According to the Rensselaer County District Attorney’s Office, Tammy Green, 45, was sentenced to two and a third to seven years in state prison.

Green was accused of intentionally setting fire to sister’s house in February, resulting in injuries to two firefighters and the death of her sister’s dog and three cats.

“This defendant caused tremendous damage and endangered others,” District Attorney Joel Abelove said. “Thankfully no one else was killed.”

In August, Green pleaded guilty to one count of 3rd degree arson and one count of cruelty to animals.
