WICHITA, KS – Police say Damion Looney has been charged with attempted murder and is also the person responsible for posting a video online of himself repeatedly throwing his girlfriend’s kitten against a wall, killing it.
The 27-year-old man was initially arrested after he pepper-sprayed his 23-year-old girlfriend at a nightclub. Later, at his girlfriend’s home, he fired a couple of shots into the floor. Instead of calling police, the girlfriend contacted four male friends.
When those men showed up at the home, Looney pistol-whipped a 21-year-old man on the head and then shot a 24-year-old man through the door, striking him in the head.
Looney fled the scene on foot and was arrested Friday morning on one count of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of aggravated assault, one count of aggravated kidnapping, and one count of robbery and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Here’s where things get real nasty. Looney used his girlfriend’s Snapchat account to post a video of himself repeatedly throwing the woman’s 16-week-old kitten into a wall. The video is disturbing, and can be seen below, and included the title, “I hate cats I kiled Damions dog”. This was done, it seems, in an attempt to make it look as if Looney’s girlfriend was the actual culprit.
“The cat does belong to the young lady. There was some vindictiveness there. Because of an earlier incident between the two, he was doing this and putting it out there to harm her, we believe,” said Lt. Jeff Gilmore, Wichita Police Department.
The 16-week-old kitten was taken to an animal hospital by police, but did not survive its injuries. The man he shot Looney shot did not die, but is still in the hospital and my lose an eye. So on top of his current charges, Looney may very well be looking at some animal cruelty charges for the death of the cat, and possibly his own dog.
This isn’t Looney’s first run-in with the law, which I am sure surprises no one. He has two previous assault cases involving weapons; one involved a crow bar, and the other involved using a vehicle and a crow bar.
Here’s the video of the cat being thrown against a wall, and like I stated earlier, it’s tough to watch.
