French humorist, and animal lover Rémi Gaillard has decided to lock himself away in a kennel, inside of a shelter, to draw attention to the plight of many adoptable shelter animals who go unnoticed. He is trying to raise awareness, and personally gain insight into what it’s really like being locked inside of a kennel, where people routinely pass you by.
On November 11, Gaillard will lock himself in a kennel until 300 dogs are adopted, or $55,000 is raised on their behalf, to help better their situation. He is performing his awareness protest at the SPA shelter in Montpellier, and will have nothing but the amenities issued to him in his kennel exactly like how the dogs at the shelter live.
Gaillard plans to livestream the entire event live on Facebook. The shelter even took things a step further by advertising his arrival, as they would any new tenant, drawing up the flyer below:
This isn’t the first time Gaillard has used his following to draw attention to an animal in need. Last year, he produced a prank at a shelter, that was so convincing, a woman decided against surrendering her pup to the shelter.
To learn more about Gaillard, you can follow his Facebook page to wish him well.
