A miserable young German shepherd trapped at the high kill Baldwin Park Animal Care Center in California is struggling to make sense of his new life. The pup who was hit by a car, barely survived the ordeal, only to be placed in a kennel, where he faces another life and death situation. That’s because all dogs who enter the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center, are quite literally given an expiration date. If they aren’t rescued in time, they are brought to the back, also know as ‘death row,’ where they are formally scheduled to be euthanized.
According to shelter staff and volunteers who work at the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center, the dog whose name is Sandy, is just too miserable to even lift up his head and face her new world. Advocacy group Dogs in Danger wrote about Sandy on their website saying,
“Sandy is, for lack of a better word, depressed. He came into the shelter after being hit by a car, and his shelter medical history says he had a superficial skin abrasion and was limping on his left rear leg. An x-ray showed a luxation of his left hip joint; he was given meds for the pain and to prevent infection”
Sandy, who is only two-years-old, is scheduled to be euthanized on November 16 unless he is rescued. Instead of enjoying the beautiful, mild fall weather, Sandy makes a home out of a run down kennel where the chaos and confusion of the dark and grisly Baldwin Park Animal Care Center is just too painful to bare. Hope is not plentiful at any kill shelter, and thankfully we can change that for this one precious pup.
If you or someone you know is interested in giving Sandy the forever home she rightfully deserves, please contact the Los Angeles County – Baldwin Park Animal Care Center at 626-962-3577, and reference the shelter ID #A5007175. Additionally, please share this story on Facebook or Twitter so we are closer to finding Sandy a home. We have done it before and can certainly do it again.
