You know what they say: a magician never reveals their secrets.
When this 48-year-old orangutan at Colchester Zoo in England is confronted with magician Matt G’s card trick, he goes ape!
In the trick, Matt G appears to push a card through the glass. Below, watch the mystified orangutan try to replicate the trick and send the card back through.
The performer places both of his hand on top of the card to ‘transport’ it through the glass.
A mesmerised Rajang slowly realises the card is now on his side of the glass and peels it off with one of his huge hands.
After examining the card the orangutan sticks it back on the glass and seems to try and transport it back through the glass by tapping it with a stick.
The video has been viewed more than 500,000 times since the Essex-based magician posted it on Facebook in Monday.
Rajang’s keeper has described him as ‘loving to be involved’ and ‘imitate people’.
He arrived at Colchester Zoo in 1980 after previously living at Chester Zoo.
He was hand-reared by keepers after the death of his mother when he was baby and it is thought this is where his fascination with copying humans comes from.
This is not the first time he has been in the news. Last year he was filmed tenderly kissing a pregnant woman’s baby bump through his enclosure glass.
