Vivian’s rescue was truly a labor of love by Rescue Dogs Rock NYC. In another 24-hour back to back animal rescue from unforgivable neglect and what volunteers thought couldn’t get any worse, came the tragic story of Vivian. Thought to be a tiny ten-month-old collie mix, but then again who knows? Look at her condition.
On Tuesday evening, Jackie O’Sullivan received a plea from the Laurens, South Carolina animal shelter asking if they could come to the aid of a young puppy who weighed no more than 15 pounds. Jackie’s heart sunk when she saw Vivian’s photo – a dog deemed too ill to stay at the shelter. Her ravaged body was swollen with infected, oozing open sores . Earlier in the day, a local volunteer had transported Vivian to a nearby veterinarian. There the dog was administered an iron shot injection for anemia, but the attending vet decided not to admit her to the hospital.
That same evening, however Jackie wasn’t convinced that Vivian didn’t need further emergency treatment. When she contacted the organization’s vet partners at Paws and Claws Animal Hospital, the staff jumped into action to stabilize Vivian’s condition. Vivian is safe now. An update on her condition will be posted tomorrow. Follow Vivian’s heartbreaking story on Rescue Dogs Rock NYC Facebook page.
