A California-based family is getting into a heap of trouble on social media after getting their shepherd pup all excited to be leaving a high kill shelter, only to dump her, in favor of another younger dog. The heart-wrenching video which was shot by a volunteer at the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control center in Downey, California is going viral for all the wrong reasons. It shows the dog, named Zuzu, recognizing her owners as they came back to the shelter. What happens next shocked even the most experienced shelter volunteers as Zuzu owner walked right by her, and instead left with another dog not even trying to reclaim her.
In the video description, shelter volunteer Desi Lara wrote:

“Doing Dog Intros we got [interrupted] by a distracted and overly excited Zuzu. With her fast wagging tail seeing her owners Zuzu lite up like a Christmas Tree. She looked like the happiest dog. Yeah, she’s going home. But No. Talking to her owners they told me they were not here to reclaim her, they were getting another dog.”

Apparently, Zuzu had been a bit of a distraction in her former household, because her father died, and she wasn’t a “happy go lucky pup” anymore according to Lara, who received this information from her former owners.

The video was shared over 500,000 and as you can imagine, people on social media platform Facebook were outraged with one user saying,

“What a**holes!!! They shouldn’t be allowed to adopt another dog!!! How heartless!!! POS SCUM!!!”

According to sources, Zuzu was recently adopted out of the Downey Animal Center, all thanks to a Facebook video that went viral. Hopefully, her former owners are never allowed to own another pet ever again.
