An Ohio hunter who is accused of fatally shooting a man’s two dogs has been fired from his job. According to WTRF 7 News, the alleged shooter, 59-year-old Michael Chedester, has been terminated from his position at AEP – the company has cited the incident which took place Monday morning just outside of St. Clairsville city limits, as the reason for the termination.

On Wednesday, the company released a statement regarding the disturbing incident, and their reason for choosing to cut ties with Chedester:

“AEP expects the highest level of conduct from our employees, both on the job and outside of work. We are saddened by the situation that unfolded this week involving an off-duty AEP Ohio employee and the death of two dogs. This individual is no longer employed by AEP.”

The dogs, a Doberman and a Weimaraner, were fatally shot after escaping from Pete Byers’ home. Byers was actively looking for his dogs when the dogs were fatally shot.
